He plays center-left with right-wing prescriptions – Moves by PASOK to establish itself as the central pole of the opposition –

Harilaou Trikoupi is preparing to roll out new initiatives in the next period, within the framework of the plans of the president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis for the reconstruction of the party and its connection with society. According to Harilaou Trikoupi officials, the positive poll results after the intra-party polls “are only perceived as a motivation for even greater effort”, since the goal of establishing PASOK as the opposition pole against the ND government and being an alternative government solution is not it allows for complacency but persistence and resilience.

The second meeting of the nine-member Coordinating Political Center under N. Androulakis is already being organized for next Thursday, October 31st, with the participation this time, as everything shows, of the first member of parliament for Athens and his parliamentary representative PASOK Pavlou Geroulanou, who for health reasons did not participate in the inaugural meeting of the body, when Anna Diamantopoulou, Haris Doukas, Milena Apostolaki, Nikos Christodoulakis, Thanasis Glavinas, Myrto Samaras, Katerina Solomou were present. It will give the outline of the political line as well as initiatives for the next period with an emphasis on issues of the economy but also on social issues, with extroverted events.

However, there is no shortage of comments on the “disarmament” of the leading party body with elected leading party officials: the Political Council of PASOK. However, in a related question from Documento, a staff member of N. Androulakis clarified that this collective body will also be convened in the next period.

The political direction

It is obvious that the choice of the president of PASOK to appoint A. Diamantopoulou as head of political planning gives her a significant lead in strengthening her profile, but it also seems to push the party in a more center-right ideological direction. In fact, it is noteworthy that A. Diamantopoulou will be the keynote speaker at an event organized by the PASOK Insocial institute with the object of Mario Draghi’s exhibition in conjunction with the development perspective in Greece and the EU. The head of Insocial N. Christodoulakis, former Minister of Finance and professor at the Athens University of Economics, participated a few days ago in an event on the economy organized by the former prime minister and former president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras. When Documento pointed this out, commenting that there seems to be mobility in the so-called progressive space/center-left, a leading member of the leadership staff of Charilaou Trikoupis responded that there is no need for leaps of thought, adding that N. Christodoulakis will be participating in an event of the K. Institute. Karamanlis…

Let me point out one more thing. N. Androulakis was surprised when, during his speech at the pre-day debate in Parliament on the fires, he presented evidence to show the inefficient way of managing the funds of the Recovery Fund. The surprise was not the conclusions or the content of the analysis but the source of the data. No, they did not come from the PASOK institute. He used analyzes of the Institute for Alternative Politics ENA, which is headed by the former minister Yannis Dragasakis who left SYRIZA a long time ago and is moving in the area of the New Left… Broad-spectrum mobility.

Opposition with actions

In Harilaou Trikoupi, they are forming a multidimensional action that shows that PASOK emphasizes social policy issues at all levels with extroverted actions, “translating” the exhortation of N. Androulakis “to be everywhere”. In this canvas, it is indicative that a delegation of PASOK, consisting of the MP and parliamentary leader of the Shipping sector, Stavros Michaelidis, arrived at the offices of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation (PNO) to support their demands (strike mobilization) and to promote them for resolution. the former MP and secretary of the Shipping sector Dimitris Diamantidis and the deputy secretaries Nikolaos Spanakos and Dimitris Vronto.

At the same time, parliamentary interventions by MPs will continue with amendments and questions to solve problems or negatively highlight the policy of the ND government, as was done with the intervention against the funding of the Spartan party. The issue of the Spartans in particular was “raised” by state MP Panagiotis Doudonis, while the head of the Justice Department and MP for Larissa Evangelia Liakoulis followed up with a sharp intervention, noting that “1 million euros from state coffers to the Spartans with the blessings of the government”.

However, at the top of PASOK’s agenda are the labor issues that PASOK’s press representative, labor expert Costas Tsoukalas, has accused Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of his speech at SEV, of communicative rhetoric, as he does not support put collective bargaining into practice, “which has been proven to be the mechanism for supporting average wages”, as he stated.

The next day’s agenda in PASOK includes social issues, while the developments in the national and relations with Turkey are under the microscope ahead of the meeting of Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. Harilaou Trikoupi’s attention is focused on foreign policy issues, a field that has been taken over by state parliamentarian Dimitris Manzos.
