He played the police officer Jens Riebold: “Crime Scene: Under Fire”: How do you know actor Andreas Lust?

Almost everyone knows the face of Andreas Lust, who plays the initially suspicious police officer Riebold in “Tatort: Unter Feuer”. But from where? The Austrian has even appeared in an Oscar-nominated feature film…

In the end, Jens Riebold was not the perpetrator or directly involved in the illegal activities of his district, but he was at least complicit. For years he obviously consciously turned a blind eye to how his subordinate police officers continued to slide into corruption and ultimately even resorted to murder. The Austrian actor Andreas Lust (57), whose face should not be completely unknown even to Oscar fans, took on the role of the at least questionable district manager Riebold in the current Dresden “Crime Scene: Under Fire”. But first things first:

Andreas Lust was born on March 20, 1967 in Vienna and initially studied his craft at the Vienna Conservatory from the age of 16, and later also at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After many years at numerous renowned theaters in his home country – and partly in Germany too – his path only led him to film in the mid-90s. Lust actually only made his debut in 1994 in Wolfgang Murnberger’s (63) “I vow”.

After smaller roles, he came to the attention of director Götz Spielmann (63), who cast him in the unconventional drama “Revanche” in 2008. Lust also played a police officer in this film, which gave him his final breakthrough. For his role there, Lust spent a week with the police in Gföhl, Lower Austria, before filming, which obviously also benefited him for his current “Tatort” role.

Andreas Lust has already appeared in an Oscar-nominated film

The film “Revenge” received outstanding reviews and was ultimately nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film in 2009. There, however, he had to admit defeat to the Japanese production “Nokan – The Art of the End” in the race for a golden boy. Another highlight of his career followed in the same year: he was awarded the Austrian Film Prize for the leading role in “The Robber” by Benjamin Heisenberg (50).

Since then, Lust has become an integral part of German-language productions and is a welcome guest for the main roles in episodes in a wide variety of productions. Lust has repeatedly appeared in numerous crime series in recent years. Among other things, he has already appeared in “A Case for Two”, “SOKO Kitzbühel”, “SOKO Vienna”, “Die Toten vom Bodensee”, “SOKO Hamburg”, “München Mord”, “Der Taunuskrimi” and “Polizeiruf 110” to see.

Andreas Lust has now become a kind of all-purpose weapon for the Germans’ most popular crime series, “Tatort”. His appearance in “Unter Feuer” was his ninth engagement in the successful Sunday evening format. It started in 2004 and 2008 with the Vienna edition, followed by “Tatort” roles in Munich (2014, 2016 and 2019), Konstanz (2015), Hamburg (2018) and Freiburg (2019).
