The story makes people laugh, so much so that it is difficult to verify its veracity. But the facts, reported by theOriental Daily in Asia, seem to be there: a young Thai man received a table believing he had ordered an iPhone. Even the relatively high shipping costs for a mobile would not have pointed out his mistake. It is thus only upon receipt of the package that the Internet user will realize that it was in fact a piece of furniture.
He admits it himself: he would have had to read the advertisement selling the product better before going to the cash register, to avoid finding himself in such a situation – it must be said – quite flirtatious. Unusual, her mishap is also reminiscent of that of an Englishwoman who recently made the headlines for have paid for bananas more than 1,000 euros, using Apple Pay.
A real office
In reality, this table is indeed available on the site of its manufacturer, the apparently South Korean brand 10 × 10. Like the iPhone’s SIM card port, it has a drawer where you can then store your computer or notebooks. Quite kitsch, but rather popular as shown by the thousands of likes accumulated under the Instagram post highlighting the object:
As on the real iPhone 7, which has not been sold by Apple for several years, the desktop also incorporates the fingerprint sensor Touch ID (a fake, of course). This technology, to be found in the second generation iPhone SE, and also back in the new iPad Air also unveiled in 2020.

It is difficult to know whether this is indeed an incident that could have been easily avoided or a communication operation for the builder. However, to avoid experiencing the same fate as the victim of the day, here is a quick reminder of the basic rules when ordering on an online store:
- view all photos of the desired item
- if the price seems too high or not high enough, consult the dimensions of the product
- read reviews published by previous buyers, in order to possibly detect repetitive patterns or false reviews
- ensure that a free return option is offered by the seller (pledge of confidence)
