The Utah Hockey Club announced on Friday that they have signed forward Dylan Guenther to a new eight-year contract. His average annual value is 7.14 million US dollars.
“Dylan is elite in every aspect on and off the ice. He is a young, skilled forward with a shot that is becoming one of the best in the NHL. He is also a first class person with a strong will to excel,” said general manager Bill Armstrong.
Guenther is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The new one takes effect in 2025/26 and makes him the second highest paid forward behind Clayton Keller ($7.15 million). The best paid player in the team is defender Michael Sergačov with a salary of 8.5 million US dollars.
The 21-year-old from Edmonton has played just 78 NHL games with 24 goals and 26 assists. Last season, he produced 18 goals and 35 points in 45 games while playing just under 15 minutes per game. He was drafted in 2021 when the Coyotes selected him 9th overall.
