Homemade air heaters have recently become popular all over the world. If you’re a do-it-yourselfer who isn’t afraid of a challenge and have about 10 hours to spare, go for it.
What will you need?
- wood frame
- cardboard
- glue
- plexiglass
- jars (about 50 pieces)
- textile
- computer cooling fan
- wide aluminum tube
- black spray paint
And as for tools, have your drill, nails, saw, brush, hole punch and pencil ready.
Approach

First you prepare the frame. Stick the cardboard to the bottom and also glue the cardboard to the inside edges of the frame. You grind about 50 cans of the same size, remove the lid on one side and drill a few holes in the opposite lid with a drill. You stack the first row of cans into the frame and mark with a pencil on the outside of the shorter side of the frame 7 places that you will drill – these will be the future ventilation holes. Then you will attach this border with fabric to the outside.
At the top of the frame in the center, we look for a larger hole into which we install the fan (computer cooling), and on the other side – a wide aluminum tube.
Spray the entire frame from the inside and also the cans with black spray paint. Arrange the cans in 7 columns so that they fill the entire frame space. Finally seal with plexiglass.
How does it work?
The whole “box” works like a solar panel, the energy then spinning the fan, which creates warm air and drives it through a tube towards you. And then you can rest in peace and enjoy the warmth.
