Mr. Marcin has been associated with the town of Głuchołazy since his birth. He remembers the devastating flood of the millennium in 1997. Today he admits that it was nothing compared to the cataclysm that happened in the middle of September this year. swept through southern Poland.
Fratelli Sossi are restaurants where until recently we could taste Italian, Polish and Hungarian specialties. A few days ago, buildings in Nysa and Głuchołazy were flooded. – These places were not just ordinary restaurants – this is where we celebrated the most important moments in life with you, here we created memories and built relationships. Unfortunately, the losses are great. Rain flooded everything – we read in an impressive post on the restaurant’s Facebook profile.
For the residents of Głuchołazy and local entrepreneurs, what happened in mid-September was a real horror. The destructive element left some people homeless and others without a means of survival.
– Those were the most terrifying moments of my life. We had already received information about what we needed to prepare for. We set up sandbags and tried to save everything we could. I knew that the restaurant in Głuchołazy was going under. However, what we saw inside the place in Nysa was beyond human understanding – upside down countertops, freezers, refrigerators. One big biological bomb went through the restaurant – sludge water. We lost basically all of our equipment. We don’t even try to save this equipment. It was a big business, so there was a lot of stuff too. As a result, two tons of food had to be thrown away. It smelled merciless – in an interview with “Fakt”, Mr. Marcin recalls the first hours of the flood that turned his life upside down.
In addition to the business, Mr. Marcin’s family home, located in a small town near Głuchołazy, was also damaged. – More than a meter of water in the garden. 1/3 of my house was flooded. We lost four private cars. I felt that the business and the hard work associated with it had been lost, says the entrepreneur.
They were left jobless. “What should we do now?”
In all these tragedies, we cannot forget the tragedy of the workers. 60 of them lost their jobs. Every day, Mr. Marcin receives a phone call from them asking: “What should we do now?” “I think that’s what hurts my heart the most,” he admits.
Despite adversity, there is still hope in Mr. Marcin. He emphasizes that he has been through a lot as an entrepreneur. His business survived the pandemic and now he hopes to get back on his feet again soon.
– The word impossible does not exist for me. The worst thing is that there is no place where I can “reset”. The landscape is very gloomy. The town I live in was completely destroyed. We are currently looking for a new property in Nysa. Let’s see if it works. We certainly won’t be able to do it without the support of the state.
A motion was sent to the victims of the floods. When they looked at him, they were speechless
Eight things flood victims don’t want as gifts. “Who needs a kilogram of chewing gum?”
He showed what they found in gifts for flood victims. “Let’s not joke”
