CILAVEGNA. He leaves the house and starts shooting wildly, scaring the neighbors. The man, resident in Cilavegna, was arrested by the carabinieri on charges of illegal possession of clandestine weapons, resistance and threat to a public official. The man was locked up in a cell in the Torre del Gallo prison in Pavia. The military seized a Colt 1911 .45 caliber with abraded serial number, 21 rounds of the same caliber of which six were still inside the magazine, eleven .38 special rounds and several .45 caliber shells. A small homemade arsenal. The carabinieri of the Vigevano company are trying to find out the origin of the gun.
The alarm went off Saturday morning when some people showed up at the Gravellona carabinieri barracks and reported that the night before they had heard shots coming from a country cottage. The carabinieri of the operational and mobile radio department and of the Gravellona and San Giorgio stations arrived near the house indicated by the witnesses. And there they found Antonio Murgia, 55, already known to the police. The military searched his home and in a concrete pipe (behind the cottage) the carabinieri found the gun and bullets. The weapon had the serial number abraded: Murgia was accompanied to the barracks where he was interrogated. At the end the military, in agreement with the magistrate on duty of the Pavia prosecutor, arrested him.
It seems that during the house search Antonio Murgia threatened several times the carabinieri who were doing their job. For this reason, the man was also accused of resisting a public official.
