František Nedvěd’s death came quickly. He still played in Olomouc on Friday and died on Sunday. According to his family, he managed to live the life he wanted until the last moment. “We are very happy that he didn’t worry. He really lived to the fullest. The way he wanted to. He wanted to be on stage until the last minute,” his son Vojtech described.
He allegedly had pain on the Friday before his trip to Olomouc. “After an agreement with the doctor, he took some opiates. But he misunderstood it and took an extra pill, so he overdid it. It was obvious that he was weak. When we went home, his back ached,” Vojtech said.
The next morning, on the contrary, he looked great. In the afternoon, however, he lay down and slowly stopped taking food, drink and medicine. Therefore, he was taken to the hospital, where he was to undergo chemotherapy on Monday. But he died on Sunday night.
The speed of the end surprised the whole family. František Nedvěd himself allegedly knew about the approaching end. “He told us that he was going to get vaccinated on July 19 and that he would not see it. He knew that,” said the musician’s second son, František.
In an interview for TN LIVE, sons, wife Marie and daughter-in-law Kateřina also recalled what František Nedvěd’s husband, father and grandfather were like. According to his son František, he was such a hen house and he was happiest surrounded by a family. He is also said to have learned foreign languages with his granddaughters. “He was very patient and for the family,” said his son Vojta.
