He kills his wife and takes his own life, autopsy confirms suicide

The autopsy carried out on the body of Giuseppe Lacarpia, the 65-year-old from Gravina in Puglia (Bari) found lifeless on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday in his cell in the Bari prison, would confirm the hypothesis of suicide. These are the very first results of the examination carried out today on the man’s body by Professor Biagio Solarino of the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Polyclinic of Bari. To allow the autopsy to be carried out, the Bari Prosecutor’s Office had opened a case against unknown for incitement to suicide. Lacarpia’s body will now be able to return to his family who, devastated by the double tragedy (his daughter Antonella had commented on the news of his suicide with joyful emoticons on social media), will be able to organize the man’s funeral.
Lacarpia ended up in prison last October 6 on charges of premeditated murder, aggravated by cruelty, of his wife Maria Arcangela Turturo: first he attempted to set her on fire while the woman was in the car, then he killed her with his bare hands. On Monday afternoon, shortly before his death, he had obtained permission from the Court to visit his wife’s grave in the Gravina cemetery.
