He kills his ex-partner despite the electronic bracelet

Yet another femicide in Civitavecchia and, after that of Celeste Palmieri, killed yesterday near Foggia, the electronic bracelet failed to save a 56-year-old woman killed by her ex-partner. And regarding the failure of the alarm device, Avs and PD ask the government, and in particular the Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, to intervene to resolve the problems. Also because the use of the electronic bracelet can actually save the lives of victims of violence, as has happened in the last few hours to two women in Naples and the Milan area. The Civitavecchia femicide occurred in a building in the railway station car park where a 56-year-old woman was found dead late at night. The police investigations immediately led to the identification of the ex-partner, who had already been investigated in the past for stalking the woman and for this reason was subjected to an approach ban and an electronic bracelet.

The autopsy on the body showed signs of suffocation and other injuries attributable to an assault. On the contrary, in Fuorigrotta, the alarm in the operations center went off immediately: an electronic bracelet assigned to a 49-year-old Neapolitan, following an approach prohibition order, was detected in a street and thus any attempt at approach to his ex-wife.

The man shouldn’t have been there. In consideration of the mistreatment suffered by the woman, the court had forbidden him to approach her and the device had been calibrated so that any attempted approach was monitored and averted. The 49-year-old didn’t have time to arrive near his ex’s building when the Carabinieri of the Naples mobile unit blocked and arrested him. He will have to answer for failure to comply with the approach ban. He is now in prison, awaiting trial.

In Rho, however, a man broke the electronic bracelet that had been imposed on him to avoid approaching his ex-partner’s house. For this reason, late yesterday evening, in the Milanese area, the carabinieri arrested a 56-year-old Romanian man with a criminal record for aggravated damage, who since 14 February had been subjected to the precautionary measure of removal from the family home and a ban on approaching the places attended by the offended party, with electronic monitoring, after the complaint of mistreatment by his ex-partner, a 60-year-old. Last night a passer-by reported to the emergency number 112 a man who was handling something at ankle height in the street and had a suspicious attitude. The carabinieri of the mobile radio section of the Rho Company found the 56-year-old, drunk, not far from the woman’s home, without the electronic bracelet on his ankle, which he had broken shortly before. Hence the arrest and immediate hearing.
