This is what Jærmuseet writes in a press release:

The board of the Jærmuseet has appointed Atle Fiskå as director of the Jærmuseet. Fiskå takes over the director job from Målfrid Snørteland, who will retire this spring, after 36 years in the position.

Atle Fiskå (49) comes from the position as leader at Lerang Research Station in Skretting ARC. Prior to that, he worked as a department director in Museum Stavanger (MUST), as a daily leader in Akvamiljø AS and research manager in IRIS. Fiskå has a doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bergen, and a master’s degree in zoological and human physiology from the same university.

The chairman of the board in the Jærmuseet, Endre Skjørestad, is particularly pleased that Fiskå accepted the position of director.

– Fiskå has a solid background as a researcher, and has a competence that qualifies him to rent and further develop the museum’s role as a regional museum and as a regional science center for the Southwest. At the same time, Fiskå has a museum professional background and solid tenant experience. He can show good results in the roles he has previously had. The Jærmuseet will realize several major projects in the future, including the Maritime Science Center in Randaberg. In this work, Fiskå’s expertise and previous experience will be of particularly good use, he says in the press release.

Fiskå himself says this:

– I look forward first and foremost to getting to know the many talented colleagues in the Jærmuseet and together with them further developed this important knowledge and dissemination institution.

Fiskå will take up the position in the spring of 2022 by further agreement.
