He is bitter from the breakup, but Slovenia is doing well

Those who did not hear about the break-up of coach Livio Magoni and Petra Vlhová in the spring were certainly not on the Slovak Internet, but let us recall very briefly what this was about.

Magoni was known for psychological games to try to motivate the wards. During Vlh’s life season, he gave an interview to Italian journalist Flavio Vanetti from Corriere della Sera. He said about Vlhová that he would not get better and picked up her opponents. Magoni still says his words have been misinterpreted, but Vanetti claims he has a record.

The interview came out the day after Vlhová got a big globe, and the Slovak skier had a hard time carrying it. In his autobiography Petra. My way to the big globe then she described how Magoni was not happy even when she won. He wanted her to train, even though she really didn’t rule anymore, and he also put pressure on the other members of the team.

Vlhová decided to release Magoni because she would stay with him for a maximum of two years and then her head or body would serve her. In making this decision, Vlhová went against the opinion of her father Igor and manager Richard Galovič, who wanted the successful cooperation to continue in the Olympic season.

Magoni and Vlhová are already rivals and on Saturday the former coach defeated her for the first time since the breakup. He needed a tenth attempt and it wasn’t a big victory.

Hrovatová finished in the huge slalom ninth, while Vlhová fifteenth. If Vlhová skied at her standard level, Hrovatová would not be enough for her. In addition, Maximalist Magoni had to face ninth place.

Comparing 23-year-old Hrovatová with Vlhová, who is three years older, is of course not fair – both skiers are at a different stage in their careers. We did this just to illustrate how Magoni had to lower expectations. Such successful results as the head coach Petra Vlhová or the coach two in the team of Tina Mazeová are still unrealistic.

“Livio feels good in Slovenia. He was faced with a new, different challenge. I think it’s good for his head to have to take a step down. Last year was cruel for him, “says Martin Pavčnik.

The journalist has spoken to Magoni several times in recent months. “She felt a little bitter and disappointed. At the press in Ljubljana, we asked him about Petra Vlhová and said: ‘I was
