On May 20, in connection with the 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, a joint scientific seminar was held at the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center (LREM) with the ANAS Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology.
First, the monument of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev erected in the center of Lankaran city was visited.
Then, General Director of the Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, Doctor of History, Professor Abbas Seyidov gave a wide speech in the meeting hall of LREM. He spoke about the multifaceted activities of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev as a genius and the great work he did in the development of our country. He said that within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”, they will visit the regions throughout the year, and will hold a series of events related to the Great Leader. He noted that Heydar Aliyev, a wise personality, had unparalleled services in the development of archeology, ethnography and anthropology as well as in other fields. Therefore, studying the scientific, cultural and political heritage of the genius leader should be a sacred duty of all of us.
Later, the director of LREM, professor Farman Guliyev, spoke about Heydar Aliyev’s exceptional services in the development of tea growing and citrus growing in Azerbaijan. He noted that the period of 1969-1982, when the Great Leader led Azerbaijan, was the renaissance period of our country. Lankaran also experienced its period of prosperity. According to him, as a result of Heydar Aliyev’s care, nearly 200,000 tons of vegetables were produced and sent to more than 900 cities of the former union. Tea cultivation had reached its highest development. About 16,000 tons of green tea leaves were produced annually.
Dynamic development of all areas of the economy was ensured by the initiative of the genius leader. In 1976, the Upper Khanbulanchay water management complex was built and put into use in order to increase the production of agricultural products and provide irrigation water to the land in the Lankaran zone. It is not by chance that Lankarans call the period of Heydar Aliyev’s rule the “Golden Age” of Lankaran.
Executives and employees of the Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, LREM took part in the event.
