After the Premier League sanctions, Chelsea found themselves in a historic situation: on the verge of bankruptcy and losing everything Roman Abramovich built, including the current professional squad.
The club will not be able to sell tickets, sign or sell players or renew links which are terminated. Additionally, Abramovich and the club froze accounts so they couldn’t move assets.
And in this context, Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea now. The striker arrived at the club eight months ago and for 117 million euros, despairs of returning to Inter Milan.
Fabio Bergomi, an Italian journalist, said: “The Belgian told a friend that he had already said goodbye to his teammates at Chelsea. Inter have a revolution in mind and pay attention to two names: Lautaro and Barella.
Most relevant is also that Bergomi revealed the steps to be taken by Inter to repatriate Lukaku: “Correa is sold, which Lille have already asked for, Alexis Sánchez leaves, Caicedo is not even considered. If he leaves Lautaro could take Dybala, otherwise he works with Chelsea to get Lukaku back.
Whether Chelsea’s new owner will let the Belgian striker out so easily remains to be seen. At Inter they will make the effort but their exit would not be as simple as it seems from the outside.
