he had been hospitalized for Covid- Corriere.it

The famous American journalist Larry King died at 87 in Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalized for over three weeks due to Covid-19. The journalist, the historical face of Cnn, he suffered from diabetes, had had serious heart problems in the past, and in 2017 he had been operated on for lung cancer. In 2020 he had lost two children, Andy and Chaia, within just over three weeks: the first died of a heart attack on July 28, while the second died on August 20 due to lung cancer. The other children were unable to visit him during his hospitalization, due to the strict health measures for Covid at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

King, all’anagrafe Lawrence Harvey Zeiger, was born in New York on November 19, 1933. Famous for his rolled up shirt sleeves and ubiquitous suspenders, he had led the Larry King Live on Cnn from 1985 to 2010, one of the longest-running American talk shows, and in recent times he conducted the Larry King Now on Hulu and RT America, as well as Sundays Politicking with Larry King on the same two online channels. During his long career he had interviewed all American presidents since 1974, as well as political celebrities such as Yasser Arafat and Vladimir Putin and celebrities from the world of entertainment such as Marlon Brando, Liza Minelli, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand.

His debut in the world of mass media dates back to 1957 as a disc-jockey at one radio station in Miami Beach, Florida. It was around this time that, on the advice of his manager, he changed his surname to King. In 1978 he became a commentator on American football games.
