What would you do if you found a real treasure chest? ¿Would you return it or get it? you would stay For you alone or to share it with your loved ones? The usual answer to this question is usually to return it, but of course, very few have had this blessed problem on their hands.

An operator from the Miguelturra Clean Point, in Ciudad Real, has returned a little more than 63,000 euros that he found inside an old television box, after its owners left it at these municipal facilities for recycling.

Juan Carlosthat’s the name of the good Samaritan who came across the hidden cash inside the drawer TV while he was performing his job duties. The events took place last September, but it was not until now that the information was made public.

The operator has reported that a woman brought several disused electronic objects so that they are recycled. Among them, telephones, printers, routers… in addition to several boxes, where the old television with the money was located, Juan Carlos has declared to EFE.

After attending to the woman, the worker carried out his task to separate the different waste and boxesbeing surprised that “in one of the packages, which was for a small television, the corresponding device did not come, but rather the money came in bundles, very well bagged,” Juan Carlos recalled.

After taking them out to check if they were fake or tickets from children’s games, He verified that it was real money, “legal cash.”the employee explained. The next action he decided to take was to call security services. In this case, “first to the Local Police so that they could see everything through the security cameras and can you check the identification of this lady”, commented Juan Carlos.

They then contacted the Civil Guardwho were the ones who “identified the lady”, to finally deliver the money to its rightful owner. “I think that the Civil Guard has the main merit,” said the Punto Limpio operator, Juan Carlos, who says that he did not do “something out of the ordinary, but “he did what he had to do”.

“Within the administration, whether local or national, this is our obligation and duty“said the worker, downplaying everything that happened.

Luis Ramón Mohíno, the mayor of Miguelturra, has said that “The City Council is proud to have workers this committed to public service”, and wanted to recognize the honesty of this worker who, together with the rapid action of the Local Police and the Civil Guard, have made it possible for the money to return to its legitimate owners.

The councilor has confessed that this worker has proven “to be a great professional and act in an exemplary mannerwhich deserves public recognition from all.” Finally, he has been convinced that the way Juan Carlos acted would have been the way any other municipal worker would have acted.
