He filled the quota shortly before the deadline

Sveen, who did not shoot the teddy bear himself but participated in the hunt, says he weighed 130 kilos of live weight.

According to Sveen, he is a three to four year old male bear.

– What do you do with a bear?

– Almost before we got to the bear, someone called and wanted to taste the meat, says Sveen.

However, the breeder himself is not thrilled with the somewhat exclusive meat.

– I’ve done a lot with bears, I see what they eat. I don’t particularly want to eat them, she says.

Other than damage removal or emergency protection, there isn’t much bear hunting in Norway. During the fall season, permission was granted to kill three bears in Hedmark, four in Oppland, NTB reports.

With that, this year’s bear hunt is over in Hedmark.

The bear was culled in the north of Rendalen municipality, Sveen says. He points out that there has been a lot of damage to livestock in the area.

– Then it’s nice to get your license removed, says Sveen, who became a national celebrity when he won the Farm in 2017.

– Difficult hunting

Sveen tells Dagbladet that bear hunting is challenging.

– It’s a tough hunt, but it’s fun.

The secret behind bear hunting – if the hunter is to be believed – is to have well-trained dogs that can find the shy omnivorous animals.

– The important thing is to find a cool trail in the morning so that the dogs have a good trail to follow, he says.

– Here we found a dead moose that someone checked – then the bear had been there and moved a little on the moose.

According to Sveen, however, there was a lot of back and forth, including a situation where the bear stung, before they found the trail.

– The bear came slowly towards someone who was sitting on a pole, says Sveen of the hunter who shot down the animal.

– Administration

Sveen calls the hunting management.

– It’s just management. This is basically the management of the bear tribe, says the farm winner.

Odds for bears and other predators – such as wolverines, lynxes and wolves – are set by predatory scoreboards in Norway.

Sveen says shooting a bin with children is not allowed anyway.

– It is impossible to distinguish between a male and a female bear, he says and adds:

– But we know above all in which areas the binna is found.

Last year, according to the report, at least 160 brown bears were recorded in Norway Predatory data. 67 were bear females – 93 were male bears.

In principle, male bears can roam large distances. The Binners, however, are more local and mainly live in Pasvikdalen and Anárjohka in Finnmark, inland Troms, eastern Trøndelag and eastern parts of Hedmark, according to Rovdata.no.
