The German newspaper ‘Bild’ has published an exclusive photograph that has sparked a wave of indignation in Norway. The image shows Marius Borg Høiby, son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, at a party in late 2023, posing shirtless, with a gun in one hand and a bottle of Dom Pérignon champagne in the other. Added to this are wads of Norwegian kroner banknotes around his waist and a luxury Rolex Daytona watch, causing a crisis in the image of the Norwegian Royal Family.
The scandal is not limited to this photograph. Marius, 27, has been at the centre of controversy after being arrested on 4 August in Oslo, accused of assaulting his partner and destroying her apartment. This incident has been followed by further revelations, including accusations of violence by ex-girlfriends and a history of drug use, which has called into question the stability of the royal family.
Despite the seriousness of the accusations, a source close to the Norwegian royal family has revealed to ‘Bild’ that “Marius does not regret anything.” According to this source, the young man has gone out partying again and has resumed contact with the same girlfriend he assaulted.

Crown Prince Haakon, who is Marius’ stepfather, called the situation “worrying” during a recent public appearance in Stavanger.
