A 17-year-old girl from Great Britain died after taking several paracetamol pills in a short period of time, far exceeding the prescribed dose. Doctors found the death, ruling out the possibility of suicide.

Georgia Littlewood, of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, arrived urgently at hospital after accidentally swallowing the recommended dose of paracetamol three times, he informs Daily Star. The girl had complained of stomach pain, which is why she took more pills than she should.

The tests revealed that the young woman had 65 micrograms of the substance in her blood, the usual level being only 20 mcg.

“It appears that Georgia was unaware of the toxic effect of the paracetamol overdose administered over a relatively short period of time. I do not think it was an intention, but the result of an accident. It is important for public opinion to be informed of the risks.” said forensic assistant Mary Burke.

The girl’s family also complained that paracetamol can be bought very easily, even in supermarkets.

Doctors say that the dose of 8 tablets should not be exceeded in 24 hours, being mandatory a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses.
