FC Bayern Munich, News: Is Jonathan Tah moving on a free transfer?

It is still unclear whether Jonathan Tah, who is being courted by FC Bayern, will stay at Bayer Leverkusen this season. Recently it was said that the central defender had had a change of heart and that his move to Munich was becoming increasingly unlikely.

Now Simon Rolfes, Sport Director of the Werkself, has spoken to Sport1 on the current water level. “There are no developments or concrete things that would change the situation,” said Rolfes, stressing that he was “optimistic” and had “seen no signs so far” that “Jonathan will not play with us next year.”

When asked whether Tah, whose contract expires in 2025, could then join FCB on a free transfer next summer, Rolfes said: “We will see how that pans out. We are currently optimistic that Jonathan will stay and that is a good situation for us because Jonathan is an important player for us.”

Rolfes did not, however, declare that a Tah transfer in the current transfer window was off: “In football, you can never rule anything out. There are still ten days left. There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks and you can continue to do so for another ten days. Then we will all know the result. But at the moment I assume that he will stay.”
