You probably all know these films: The Great White Shark, Superman – The Moviedie Star Wars-Saga, ET – The Extra-Terrestrial, Seven years in Tibetdie Indiana Jones-Row, Kevin – Home Alone, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Jurassic Park.
Even if you’ve never seen some of these films, you’ve probably heard them at some point in your life, because all of these films and many more have one thing in common: they have great music John Williams.
Hardly any other composer represents Hollywood music of the last 50 years or so and has composed as many legendary and immortal musical themes as he does. Topics that can usually be recognized with the first sounds. Williams is now 92 years old, so it’s about time to honor him with a documentary. Music by John Williams is called this and will be on 1. November on Disney+ published. Here is the trailer:

Williams has been nominated for an Oscar 55 times, making him the record for the most Oscar nominations for a living person. In the history of the Oscars, he is in second place behind another legend, viz Walt Disneywhich managed 59 nominations. Williams won five Oscars: in 1972 Anatevka1976 for The Great White Shark1978 for Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope1983 for ET – The Extra-Terrestrial and 1994 for Schindler’s List.
Of course, these are not all awards. There are also three Emmys from six nominations, four Golden Globes from 25 nominations and a whopping 26 Grammys from 68 nominations.
Even in old age, Williams remains busy. Last year he was responsible for the soundtrack Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune responsible. This is said to have been his last work as a film composer. Two years ago he achieved this with his live album The Berlin Concert Number 1 in the German album charts, his first number 1 in this country.
John Williams is definitely one of the greatest composers of all time and we are certainly not the only ones who are really looking forward to the documentary.
