This is what the intelligence expert, who for security reasons is referred to only as Joakim, says in an interview with the Danish newspaper Berlingske.
He is aware that what he is saying is not necessarily the whole and complete truth, but he believes that one of the factors that may have triggered the biggest war in Europe since World War II may have been Putin’s drug.
– Delusions of grandeur are a known side effect of the type of hormone treatment he was following, Joakim tells the newspaper.
– It’s not something I can say for sure, but I think it influenced his decisions when he went to war against Ukraine.
The Kremlin denies the defecation incident
Speculation is rampant
According to Berlingske, Joakim is not just anyone. As head of Danish intelligence’s Russia department, he collects intelligence on Putin, the Russian military and Russian society. Joakim also helps the Danish authorities better understand the possible threat Putin poses to Denmark and helps to learn about his chances of success in Ukraine.
Since Putin attacked Ukraine on February 24 this year, the Russian president’s health has been the subject of much speculation. Among other things, it has been stated that he has, or has had, cancer.
Putin’s behavior in some public appearances has also attracted considerable attention. Like when it seemed cling to the edge of the table during a conversation with Defense Minister Sergej Sjojgu earlier this year, or that his right arm appears to have reduced movement.
Think Putin is in chronic pain
In Berlingske, the Danish intelligence expert says that Danish intelligence does not believe that Putin is now suffering from a fatal disease, but that he is in chronic pain from several falls and accidents.
However, Danish intelligence believes that Putin was being treated for cancer when he made the decision to invade the neighboring country and that this medical treatment, as mentioned above, may have influenced the decision.
Anger against Putin’s rumors
Joakim refers, among other things, to Putin earlier this year having the so-called “lunar face», a known side effect of hormone treatment.
The independent Russian media Proekt published a report earlier this year which revealed this Putin is accompanied by a medical teamwith among others an expert in thyroid cancer and surgical treatment of elderly patients with this form of cancer.
The report also revealed that several doctors must have traveled with Putin around the country and that one of the doctors must have been a neurosurgeon.
Rejected by the Kremlin
When asked whether thyroid cancer could be a diagnosis Putin has or had, Joakim replies that “it is definitely a good suggestion,” writes Berlingske.
Rumors that Putin is ill have been repeatedly denied by the Kremlin. Claims that Putin has thyroid cancer have been, among other things, called “fiction and lies” by Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
