Receives a phone call from the bank and his account, 30 thousand euros disappear. It happened to a Veronese winemaker who was deceived with a hacker attack called “vishing”.
The man received a phone call from a pre-recorded message who warned him that his current account was under attack and invited him to contact the number indicated as soon as possible to stop possible fraud. In reality, just by making that phone call, the entrepreneur fell into the scam.
A well-designed scam so much so that the man, before calling, had checked that the number indicated was actually that of his institute. A number that had been hacked.
The alleged bank operator then asked the man for a series of personal data, including the PIN codes of his account, in order to block an elusive fraudulent activity. Received such data, from the entrepreneur’s account 30 thousand euros were stolen.
From the investigations of the carabinieri it was discovered that the perpetrators of the scam are two men and a woman, residing in the Neapolitan, Foggia and Viareggio areas, already prejudiced for similar crimes. The three were reported in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Verona.
