However, it is not news to anyone that SSDs have been in greater demand. And the latest information indicates that HDD sales have already dropped by almost half in the past year of 2022.

There are already several news that show the advantages of SSD disks (solid state drives) in relation to traditional HDD hard disks, and one of the most recent indicates that solid state disks are more reliable. HDDs have already seen their price drop by 87% since the first PC SSD hit the market. Furthermore, in one of our last questions, 87% of readers considered that buying SSD disks is the best choice today.
And there is now new data that proves the fall of hard disks. According to recent information, described in a new report by the analyst Trendfocus, in the year 2022 sales of HDDs dropped to almost half. Details indicate that the largest companies in the sector, namely Toshiba, Seagate and Western Digital, showed an estimated reduction of between 40.5% and 42.5% in sales of this equipment.
As we see from the table (via Tom's Hardware) Seagate's hard drive sales fell by about 43.7%, while Western Digital reports a 43% drop. Japan's Toshiba was the brand with the lowest drop rate, with 39.3%. These values are estimated, but turn out to be expressive of the current state of the HDD market.
Previously, another analyst, Trendforcerevealed that 92% of portable computers sold in 2022 had an SSD disk and estimates indicate that this percentage should increase to 96% in 2023.
On the other hand, although this scenario may seem catastrophic, HDD disks are still a fundamental piece in the business and server segment, as they offer greater storage capacity.
