The import and export unit value indices fell, year-on-year, by 6.1% and 5.5% respectively during the second quarter of this year, according to an information note. of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) relating to foreign trade indices (ICE).
The change in the import unit value index mainly results from the drop in the unit values of “finished industrial equipment products” of 8.6%, of “semi-finished products” of 5.8%, of “food, beverages and tobacco” by 8.2%, “energy and lubricants” by 4.8%, “raw products of mineral origin” by 25% and “raw products of animal origin” and plant-based” by 15.1%, explains the HCP.
Concerning the decline in the export unit value index, it is mainly attributable to the drop in unit values of “semi-finished products” of 17.2%, of “food, drinks and tobacco” of 6, 4%, “raw products of mineral origin” of 10.3% and “finished products of agricultural equipment” of 17.8%, reports the same source, noting that this index increased in “finished products consumption” by 0.8%, “finished industrial equipment products” by 0.9% and “raw products of animal and plant origin” by 10.9%.
