WarnerMedia’s streaming service HBO Max launches in the Nordics and Spain this autumn, followed by launches in Eastern Europe and Portugal in 2022, writes Variety.
The news is said to have been released during the main event at the international series festival Series Mania in Lille, France.
Priya Dogra, President of WarnerMedia in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia (excluding China) and Christina Sulebakk, general manager of HBO Max EMEA were the keynote speakers at the event.
– Europe is a big priority for us. We now have the United States and Latin America under our belt. We are very happy with the success we have experienced there and the growth we are seeing. Europe is a complicated but exciting market, Dogra said during the event.
– We will highlight more voices and that more stories will be told, and we will offer our consumers competitive prices, both through D2C – but also through our very established wholesale distribution partners in the regions, Sullebak said.
For the first time, Sullebak revealed that the entire program menu associated with WarnerMedia, included HBO, Max originals, DC, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network will be available in one service. In addition, programs WarnerMedia has purchased from other companies will also be available.
– So what you will see on the platform is a big improvement from the streaming services we currently offer, which has a less extensive program menu, to become a much broader and more appealing offer that communicates broadly, he said.
Dogra is also said to have said that in addition to focusing on content with broad appeal, they will prioritize local content.
