‘Harry Potter 20th anniversary: Return to Hogwarts’ can be seen on HBO Max on New Years Day. In the trailer, quite a few iconic places from the film series pass by, such as the Hogwarts Express departing on platform 9 3/4. The actors gather in the main hall that was used at Harry Potter’s magical school Hogwarts.
“This is heartwarming, because I watched you grow up. I’ve seen every part of your life,” Grint said. Watson adds: “When things don’t go so well, there’s always something about Harry Potter that makes life richer.” To which Grint again: “It is a strong bond that we will always have. We are family and will always be part of each other’s lives.”

The special was made on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter films. In addition to the protagonists, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Robbie Coltrane (Hargrid), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) will also return for the reunion. Chris Columbus, who directed two of the eight prints, is also collaborating. JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, will not be featured in the TV special. According to various media, the reason for her absence is the controversy surrounding some transphobic statements on social media.
