HBO’s “Harry Potter” Series – Casting for Leading Roles Announced
As we have known for some time, HBO is preparing a series based on JK Rowling’s books about a young wizard fighting evil. Its premiere has been announced for 2026. We don’t know many details about the production yet, but an announcement recently appeared on social media that caused excitement among Potter fans.
A note circulating on the net announces the start of the search for actors to play the title character, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. HBO confirmed it is official. What do we learn from it?
Who can apply for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione?
The announcement states that the casting can be attended by actors permanently residing in Great Britain and Irelandwho will be aged 9 to 11 in April 2025. Most likely, this is how we learned the approximate start date for filming the “Harry Potter” series.
Candidates for the roles are asked to sending two materials. The first one, a maximum of 30 seconds, should be a poem or a short story (not related to the world of Harry Potter). The second one, lasting a maximum of one minute, should be an introduction of oneself, as well as a few sentences about “a family member, friend or animal with whom the candidates are particularly close”.
The announcement also says the casting will be open to all races, ethnicities, and gender identities. – We are committed to an inclusive, diverse casting. For each role, please submit qualified actors, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law, unless otherwise specifically indicated – it was written.

As we found out in June 2024, the showrunner of the series will be Francesca Gardinerand he will be responsible for directing Mark Mylod. They are both responsible for one of HBO’s most beloved series, which has won many prestigious awards. “Succession”. The creators assure that the new film adaptation will be “faithful” to JK Rowling’s books. All fans of the teenage wizard are certainly rubbing their hands and waiting for the development of events and the premiere of the production.
