HBO announces release dates for DMX and Juice WRLD documents

HBO has officially revealed release dates for its upcoming Music Box documentaries with a focus on deceased artists DMX and Jus WRLD.

DMX: Don’t Try to Understanding is slated for release on November 25 and follows DMX after his release from prison in 2019:

DMX: Don’t Try To Understanding (November 25), directed by Christopher Frierson, focuses on a year in the life of rapper Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons as he gets out of prison in early 2019 and tries to rebuild his career in the music industry and reconnect with family and fans. Set in cinema-truth style and with unfettered access, the film is a testament to a man in search of reinvention and redemption, striving to stay true to himself while re-establishing his roles as father, artist. and icon.

Juice WRLD: Into the Abbys premieres on December 16 and promises an “intimate” look at the tragically departed artist:

“JUICE WRLD: Into The Abyss” (December 16), directed by Tommy Oliver, is an intimate and often revealing exploration of the far too short life and career of prolific rapper Juice WRLD, told mostly in truth, his prolific music and its freestyles. A dynamic, real-time narrative from the Chicago native who was already on his way to streaming fame and supremacy at the age of 18 thanks to his hit “Lucid Dreams,” the film features a host of never-before-seen footage, from the unreleased music and dozens of industry interviews that detail Juice WRLD’s struggles to navigate their meteoric rise to fame, drug use and mental health issues.

In April 2020, Juice’s mother Carmela Wallace announced the creation of the Live Free 999 Fund, which will receive additional support through Grade A and Interscope Records. The Live Free 999 Fund will honor his son’s legacy by supporting young people in their struggles and doing so with love, joy and emotional honesty.

Last May, the labels celebrated Juice WRLD’s third anniversary Goodbye and good riddance with a special reissue of the album featuring two new songs, “734” and the highly anticipated “Lucid Dreams Remix” with Lil Uzi Vert. Goodbye is one of the critically acclaimed and culturally adored artist’s most iconic works. It was released in May 2018 and quickly singled out Juice WRLD for its introspective lyrics at the peak of its melodic production, kicking off its rapid rise to global stardom.
