Hazardous Substance Leak & Fire Incidents in Ludwigshafen: Updates and Response Efforts by Fire Brigade and Emergency Services

(JH) On 06/22/2023 at 08:21 a.m. the Ludwigshafen fire brigade was called to a hazardous substance leak on Sedanstraße in Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim. Upon arrival, firefighters found gas leaking into a residential building. The gas connection was damaged by construction work in the vicinity. The fire brigade evacuated the adjacent residential buildings, secured the site and carried out extensive measurements. The technical works in Ludwigshafen sealed the line. The affected residents were cared for by the emergency services on site. The Ludwigshafen fire brigade was deployed with 30 emergency services and 8 vehicles from the professional fire brigade, the rescue service with 2 vehicles, the police, the senior emergency doctor and organizational head of the rescue service with the support of the management module of the Ludwigshafen civil protection and the technical works Ludwigshafen.

The Ludwigshafen-Maudach volunteer fire brigade provided support during this operation as readiness for any further operations in the city area, which also followed directly.

At 0926, the Ludwigshafen fire brigade was called to a fire in Prankstrasse in Ludwigshafen-Süd. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire alarm system had been activated. The fire alarm system was triggered by construction work. There was no danger. The Ludwigshafen fire brigade was deployed with 9 firefighters and 4 vehicles from the professional fire brigade, the Ludwigshafen-Maudach volunteer fire brigade with 7 firefighters and 1 vehicle, the rescue service and the police.

During the journey, the Maudach fire department was reassigned to an emergency door opening on Schillerstrasse in Ludwigshafen-Oggersheim. When firefighters arrived, the resident was able to open the door himself. The person was taken care of by paramedics. The volunteer fire brigade Ludwigshafen-Maudach with 7 emergency services and 1 vehicle and the rescue service were in action.

During the entire period of the assignments, three further assignments were processed. A swarm of bees threatened a visually impaired citizen and a pigeon got caught in a pigeon protection net. Furthermore, an air sample is currently being evaluated by the Ludwigshafen fire brigade as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate state analysis system.
