Haydée Milanés denounces abuses by the Cuban dictatorship: “Enough is Enough!” – 2024-03-15 17:13:03

Cuban singer Haydée Milanés spoke out again against the Cuban government, accusing it of plunging the country into an economic and social disaster, and of having no disposition to remedy the situation.

Through her social networks, the singer spoke about the food shortage, the lack of basic producers and especially medicines, since in the pharmacies and hospitals of the Island there are shortages of even the most essential ones, such as antibiotics and painkillers.

Since leaving Cuba, in August 2022, the interpreter of To live has maintained an opposition stance, which comes from the dismay of seeing how the country deteriorates more every day.

“The shortage of food, the exorbitant prices when they exist, the lack of medicine, transportation and other basic needs, along with the continuous repression towards Cubans, have no solution due to the lack of will on the part of the regime to bring about change” , declared the artist.

Along these lines, he harshly criticized the regime’s recent measures to “face” the crisis, such as the increase in prices and taxes on essential services, called “paquetazo”, which has only exacerbated the difficulties of the population.

Milanés denounced that each measure taken by the government results in greater suffering for the Cuban people, and pointed out the lack of responsibility and sensitivity of the authorities towards the population. At the same time, he emphasized the repression and the existence of political prisoners.

“In Cuba, many people go to bed without having eaten. More than a thousand political prisoners languish in prisons. The abuse is unbearable. “Enough!” wrote the singer.

Pablo Milanés’ daughter pointed out that her father experienced a progressive disappointment with the island’s regime, in whose promises he believed at the very beginning of his mandate, when there was supposed to be justice and social equality.

According to Haydée, the process of the country’s decline was a source of deep sadness for him, to the extent of contributing to his death in November 2022, at the age of 79.

“It was a process that lasted years, but I have all those memories. My father was my role model, and I witnessed him gradually become disillusioned. I saw him express his discontent, questioning whether all the effort had been worth it for people to suffer this way. I think that disappointment was what ultimately led to his death. “He believed in a noble cause, but he was betrayed by a system that did not fulfill its promises,” he said in an interview a few months ago.
