RN52 / Belval link: half a section and that’s it
Inaugurated in June 2016, the first section of the “Audun-le-Tiche bypass” must still be connected to the RN 52. The completion of this connection, estimated at € 10.5 million, is conditional on its inclusion in the contract. State-Region plan 2021-2027.
The project is still under study. If co-financing is found between the various partners (local authorities, State, etc.), a public utility request survey could soon start, after validation by the environmental authority.
Several impact studies have already been carried out: of the ten routes considered, it is that of the East Tiercelet bypass that has been selected. The road bar will thus link the roundabout at Tiercelet with that of Bréhain-la-Ville on the RN52. The Audun-le-Tiche bypass will not be completed until this road has been developed. When will it be? No date has been communicated.
For the time being, the “RN52 / Belval link” is therefore not connected to anything and, above all, not to the motorway. Its usefulness remains to be proven: despite years of reflection and studies, and € 56.22 million invested on the French side, traffic jams persist in Audun-le-Tiche, and traffic on the D16, between the A30 and Esch- sur-Alzette, has jumped 40% in ten years.
