The defendant is small, sickly. He wears a thick sleeveless down jacket. He takes off his little prayer cap which covers his short hair to go to the bar of the tribunal.
This 41-year-old Hayangeois is being prosecuted for a theft committed in the mosque of his town at the end of August 2021. He knows the place, he has already come there to pray.
That evening, around midnight, he passed through a badly closed service door, headed for the room where the gifts for worship were kept. He steals 10 euros. He then enters the prayer room and forces a gate to steal twenty euros.
But he gets caught on his way out. A police officer, off duty, is also at the mosque. He warns his colleagues and the thief is arrested. The police find on him 34.70 euros and a brass knuckles.

“I reimbursed”, mumbles the defendant at the bar. He hears badly and articulates with difficulty. He did not remember that he had brass knuckles (a category D weapon, the transport of which is prohibited without a legitimate reason). While in police custody, he explained that he stole to buy food.
“These are not high-flying facts”, recognizes the public prosecutor of Thionville. But the defendant committed them while he was under probation, pronounced during a previous conviction. He is followed by the Hayange hospital, his profile and his drug addiction problems are known to the justice system.
This time, he is sentenced to two months in prison, which he will carry out under an electronic bracelet.
