The owner of this land is not unknown in the region. Thierry Schiltz, farmer, acquired it. This land, he assures us, comes from domestic construction sites in the region. “We have 300 houses a year in Lorraine. This soil is taken from the construction sites. We then drop it off here, before transporting it elsewhere, to add value to the land, ”he explains.
The “Delesch” site would therefore be a transit site. As the law allows, Thierry Schiltz can continue this activity for three years, before the refurbishment. Right in his boots, the farmer specifies that the answer does not exceed two meters, in accordance with the environmental code.

Criminal record for the farmer
The story could have stopped there if the state shared the same opinion. However, Thierry Schiltz has a criminal record. In 2018, he was sentenced by the Metz Court of Appeal to prison. He was found guilty of having illegally buried waste for several years on the “Theilesch” site in Volkrange. An activity which, according to the neighborhood, continued for several months after the conviction.
This time, the State is looking at the plot located on route de Marspich, on the town hall of Thionville, on the border of Hayange. In January 2021, three months after the inspection of agents from the Dreal (Regional Environment Department), the Prefecture gave notice to Thierry Schiltz’s GTS SAS company to regularize the site’s administrative situation. A long administrative battle
