Hawks beat Hornets 125-106 to suffer seventh straight setback

Trae Young scored 31 points, Bogdan Bogdanovic 28 points on 7-of-10 shooting for 3-pointers, and the crippled Atlanta Hawks handed the Charlotte Hornets a seventh straight loss by beating them 125-106 on Friday night.

AJ Griffin had 13 points and Frank Kaminsky added 12 for the Hawks (15-15), who shot 63% in the first half to build a 24-point lead.

The Hawks held on to a 16-2 run by the Hornets early in the second half and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

LaMelo Ball finished with 27 points with seven 3-pointers in his second game after an ankle injury for the Hornets, who have the worst record in the NBA at 7-22. Nick Richards added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte.

Kelly Oubre and Terry Rozier each had nine-game streaks with at least 20 points to start the game, but the Hawks held them off. Oubre finished with 16 points and Rozier was limited to 10.

The Hawks won despite playing without Clint Capella (calf), John Collins (ankle) and Dejounte Murray (ankle).
