Hawken? Those of you who like mecha fighting games are unlikely to miss the “legendary” title which unfortunately doesn’t end up being as popular as one would imagine. Coming with a mecha imagination from a heavy developer brain who positioned each of them as a heavy-armed rust machine, Hawken at that time offered a quite exciting PvP battle concept. But unfortunately, the weak community that supports it makes the game have to die with the servers ending up being closed about 5 years ago. But who would have thought, in 2023, Hawken would return!
Coming as a surprise, 505 Games suddenly announced Hawken’s newest project, called Hawken Reborn. Still centered on mecha battles, Hawken Reborn comes with significant format changes. That unlike the main series which focuses on PvP, Hawken Reborn is a single-player game with a narrative on top of it.
505 Games itself plans to inject a co-op mode in the future for extra multiplayer content that will focus on the PvE concept. Interesting again? It will be offered in a free to play format, with monetization focused on buying materials with real money for the crafting system and later upgrades.
Hawken Reborn will enter the Early Access phase via Steam first starting from May 17, 2023. What do you think? Sounds interesting?
