Hawaii Five-0: That’s why two fan favorites were missing from the final

It is done: The final episode of “Hawaii Five-0” was shown in the USA last Friday. Broadcaster CBS had surprisingly decided to cancel the successful series after more than ten years. No reasons were officially given, but series maker Peter M. Lenkov cited economic efficiency, among other things. The salaries would have risen again if they had been extended. A few years ago, they parted ways with two high-income earners. Unfortunately, to the chagrin of the fans, they couldn’t be seen in the final either.

Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park left the series in 2017 after their salary negotiations failed. Until now they were part of the regular cast. So, understandably, they asked for the same salary as their co-stars Scott Caan and Alex O’Loughlin. However, CBS denied their request, so both were eliminated from the series. In the meantime they have found a new home for the series (Park with “A Million Little Things” and Dae Kim with “The Good Doctor”).

In an interview, Lenkov made it clear once again how painful their parting was at the time. It was obviously not the intention of the series makers that both actors had to leave. So he replied in conversation with TVLine when asked why Dae Kim and Park were not in the final, with:

“If I had brought the two characters back, I would have needed more time. I couldn’t have just put them at the end of the show for a moment. They both deserved more. “

The final took place without Park and Dae Kim. Action legend Chuck Norris was there for this. You can find out how his performance came about here. We have summarized what else happened in the last episode here.

It is still unclear when the series finale will be shown in Germany. There is probably a farewell in the October or November probably this year, provided that the broadcasting station Sat.1 inserts a summer break again. At the moment, however, the new episodes continue to run normally on Tuesday evening at 10:15 p.m. Without a break, the final would be expected towards the end of May.
