After returning from the US Open, Lucie Havlíčková was excited about another successful junior grand slam and advancing to the top of the world rankings.

The 17-year-old Prague tennis player jumped to the top of the rankings thanks to her participation in the singles final, and crowned her successful performance on the hard courts in Flushing Meadows with a triumph in the doubles with Russian Diana Šnajderová.

She has secured a wild card to qualify for the October WTA tournament in Ostrava and now she wants to play as much as possible among the adults.

“I absorbed the American result. It was a successful exit. Unfortunately the singles final (against Filipino Alexandra Ealaová) didn’t go as I would have liked, but it was still a positive week,” said Havlíčková during the video interview of today with journalists.

The 17-year-old tennis player won her third junior Grand Slam triumph this year in doubles at the US Open. In June you won the double at Roland Garros. Although she is ranked 531st in the WTA rankings, today she has moved up to the first position among the juniors.

“This information is a few hours old, so I can’t describe it. I don’t think anything changes much. But it’s great to be the first in the world,” said Havlíčková.

After successful performances, the TK Sparta Praha player received a wild card for qualifying for the Ostrava WTA Agel Open tournament. It will take place from 3 to 9 October.

“This is great information for me and I thank everyone very much. Ostrava will be the first tournament after I return from America. After that, I have planned 60 or 25 adult hard court tournaments,” he stressed.

In the future, she would like to play as many adult competitions as possible. She also wants to climb the WTA rankings by the end of the year.

“I think to get to the Australian Open I would have to move up a lot in the (adult) rankings. It’s not quite as rosy as the juniors one yet. I’ll have to wait for the Grand Slam qualification, but hopefully it will be resolved sooner or later.” she smiled at her.
