Having Comorbid Disease Is Not Recommended Not Vaccinated

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The Association of Indonesian Internal Medicine Specialists (PAPDI) recommends that individuals who have certain congenital or comorbid diseases should not be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine.

This recommendation is mentioned taking into account several things:
1. Efforts to achieve herd immunity in the Indonesian population to cut the transmission of Covid-19, so that a broad vaccination coverage is required.
2. Review of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) on matters that are contraindicated and precaution Coronavac.
3. Agreement from experts regarding the safety and benefits of Covid-19 vaccination.
4. Issuance of permission Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) Coronavac for use over 59 years of age.
5. The fact that as of February 8, 2021, nearly 1 million people were vaccinated against Coronavac and no significant AEFIs were found.

Quoting from the PAPDI website, here are a number of recommendations suggested by PAPDI:


1. For individuals with comorbids, the following criteria are conditions that are not suitable for Coronavac vaccination:
a. Allergic reactions in the form of anaphylaxis and severe allergic reactions due to the first dose of Coronavac vaccine or due to the same components contained in the Coronavac vaccine.
b. Systemic autoimmune diseases, such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Vasculitis. Especially for autoimmune thyroid, autoimmune haematological disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) deserves vaccination during remission and is controlled, consult a doctor in the related field.
c. Individuals who are experiencing an acute infection. If the infection is resolved, Coronavac vaccination can be done. In TB infection, OAT treatment needs at least 2 weeks to be eligible for vaccination.
d. Blood cancer, solid tumor cancer, blood disorders such as thalassemia, immunohematology, hemophilia, coagulation disorders, so the eligibility of individuals with this condition is determined by a specialist in the related field, consult before giving Coronavac vaccine.
e. Individuals using immunosuppressant drugs, cytostatics and radiotherapy.
f. Chronic illness (such as COPD and asthma, heart disease, metabolic disease, hypertension, kidney problems) who are in acute condition or are not under control

2. Conditions that are outside the above criteria, it is appropriate to be given the Coronavac vaccine.

3. Covid-19 survivors if they have recovered for at least three months, then they deserve to be given the Covid-19 vaccine.
