The film is not a serious documentary about the statesman, it focuses on the sixties and seventies, when the young playwright Havel (Viktor Dvořák) presents his plays, fights censorship and does not avoid the themes of parties and mistresses.

At the same time, however, he shows the enormous courage of an exceptional man who consistently fights against the Communists, demanding respect for laws and human rights. He doesn’t even give up in prison. The Estebes do not know what to do with him, so they offer him a departure to the West, but Havel resists the temptation.

Cinemas have high hopes for Havel because attendance is weak this year and cinemas are already in need of a big event.

The first reviews are favorable. Director Horák has respect for criticism – his Home Care was sent to the Oscars by the Czech Republic.
