The New York Post reported on the 26th (local time) that a Korean man and woman were insulted by a man at a hamburger restaurant in the United States.
According to the New York Post, Korean A-rin Kim was eating with a friend at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in California on Christmas Eve the 24th when a man approached and asked, “Are you taking pictures of what you’re eating? You’re a strange gay man.” The man also asked about his nationality and when Kim’s friend replied “Korean,” he made offensive comments like “Is Kim Jong-un your boyfriend?”
Kim’s group tried to ignore the man’s absurd remarks, but his rude remarks continued.
When the situation was not serious, Mr. Kim stopped his friend, and the man threatened to “spit in his face” and walked away.
That seemed to end the situation, but the man came back and said, “See you outside later,” and scared Kim and her party again. The real man seemed to be waiting outside for Mr. Kim’s group.
As a result, Mr. Kim and his group, who waited inside until the shop door closed, were able to safely reach a nearby vehicle with the help of an employee.
The image of this man speaking abusive words at Mr. Kim’s party was captured in the video that Mr. Kim was shooting.
Mr. Kim shared it on social media (SNS) and received a lot of attention, and it attracted the attention of Tent Police Chief Carlson San Ramon.
In response, police launched an investigation and Chief Carlson said on Twitter that the man was detained and arrested for violating the Hate Crimes Act and is under investigation. The man’s name was Jordan Douglas Clara and he was driving a silver Mustang with Florida plates at the time of his arrest.
“Douglas appears to have acted similarly on Christmas Day morning,” Carlson said. He will be held in the Martinez County Jail.
