Merdeka.com – Both attack the lungs, the symptoms of COVID-19 and Tuberculosis (TBC) patients have a number of similarities. Both of these health problems cause cough, fever, shortness of breath, and others.
In fact, transmission can also be equally through splashing saliva. But COVID-19 and tuberculosis are certainly different diseases.

Pulmonary specialist from the Indonesian Lung Doctors Association (PDPI) JakartaSri Dhuny Atas Asri revealed that the first difference is in the type of virus that causes the two.
“In TB, of course, the cause is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, while in COVID-19 the cause is Coronavirus,” said Dhuny some time ago.
In addition, Dhuny explained that there are typical symptoms that appear in TB patients but do not appear in COVID-19 patients. One of them can be seen from the cough symptoms that appear and weight loss.
“The cough in TB is a chronic cough that lasts more than two weeks, while in COVID-19 it tends to come on suddenly and dry without phlegm,” said Dhuny.
“There is no sore throat in TB patients, in COVID-19 it is. Weight loss is also often complained of in TB, while in COVID-19 it is not,” he added.
Likewise in terms of fever, Dhuny explained that fever in TB patients is usually complained of continuously. But for no apparent reason.
Meanwhile, in COVID-19 patients, the fever that they complain about is clear because they are infected with the virus.
