“For God’s sake, have mercy on Lebanon and the Lebanese people and stop (triggering) political and sectarian hatred,” Prime Minister Najib Mikati said in a series of tweets, as quoted from Al Arabiya, Monday (3/1/2022).
Mikati voiced opposition to Hezbollah’s “position trend” that hurts the Lebanese people and Lebanon’s relations with its “brothers”.
“We have called for adopting a policy of separation from Arab disputes and refraining from damaging Lebanon’s relations with Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia,” Mikati continued in his tweet.

“What the Secretary General of Hezbollah, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, said about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tonight does not represent the position of the Lebanese government or the wider Lebanese population. And, it is not in Lebanon’s interest to harm any Arab country, especially the Gulf countries,” Mikati added.
Earlier, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah accused Saudi Arabia and its leadership of supporting terrorists and seeking to make Lebanon a “Gulf emirate”. He also claimed that Saudi Arabia was sending suicide bombers to Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
