“Have hope, a thief was saved”: on YouTube, by QR and in marquees, a modern testimony

Those who think they are ‘very well’ may not understand it, but those who know they need help will be thrilled by the story of Ángel López Berlanga, a Spaniard who trafficked in drugs, was imprisoned in Peru and there his life changed in a procession of Holy Week.

Many will be able to share their excitement from the bus shelters and Metro stops, which with advertisements and a QR code facilitate access to their brief but intense testimonial on YouTube. Tell your story in less than 4 minutes: how long it takes to get the Metro. The posters will be there until Holy Tuesday, the video will remain indefinitely, on the YouTube channel of the Catholic Association of Propagandists (ACdP).

With trumpets and percussion of Easter band in the background, and with the image of a Crucified between the two thieves, in procession, the words of Ángel López resonate.

He was transporting drugs, sentenced to 12 years

He explains that he got into the world of drug transport, with a high standard of living and debts. “They offered me extra money, I took a trip [transportando droga]It worked out for me … until they caught me. “ The prisons in Peru were a devastating experience: “terrible places, crowded with people, unbearable smell, something inhuman.” He was sentenced to 12 years.

But one day, he explains, “I go out to a pavilion, I sneak in for safety, and suddenly I find a procession. I saw a boy with the gold tooth, with the Cross thrown, and I was impressed... I said, ‘this guy, what is he doing with a cross?’ And nothing, what I started to cry”.

It was the beginning of a radical change. “And how was I going to explain that, How was I going to tell my family that I have met God? It was taking off an incredible load. There were times when I even felt freer in prison than when I was out. “

Ángel López Berlanga managed to regain his relationships with his family, he managed to tell what he had lived with Christ, He was able to share it with other prisoners … and he is now telling it through this campaign, when many around the world need hope.
