Resuscitation units are preparing to deal with a possible future wave of Covid-19. Foch hospital Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine) announced, Thursday, February 18, 2021, “to be able to acquire ephemeral resuscitation beds, allowing, if necessary, to cope with an increase in the burden of the Covid-19 epidemic “. Ten beds will thus be made available if necessary.
Ten ephemeral resuscitation beds
Concretely, this gives the resuscitation services the possibility of “transforming ten continuing care beds in intensive care beds“, By adding a mobile technology from Phillips. This orchestrates the transition with a “very extensive use of artificial intelligence”, says the region. The medical staff must nevertheless be trained in the use of this device, but the training is “fast”, she assures.
This endowment thus allows the hospital toincrease its capacity and resist possible hospital pressure if the number of Covid-19 contaminations increased in the coming weeks. If the beds are not yet installed within the establishment, it says that it will soon have the possibility of obtaining ten.
Only Hauts-de-Seine hospital to benefit from it
The device, launched by Valérie Pécresse with part of funding from the European Union, aims to “create 500 modular resuscitation beds throughout the Île-de-France region, which would increase the region’s resuscitation capacities by up to 40% ”. Currently, 13 hospitals are in the process of being staffed, including the Foch de Suresnes medico-surgical center, which is, for the time being, the only one in Hauts-de-Seine. This allocation was made on the basis of volunteering.
The Île-de-France region announces that this plan comes from “an investment plan of 10 million euros in favor of resuscitation services in public and private hospitals in the Paris region”, voted on January 13, 2021.
