Two accidents left the highways in northern France in mourning last night. Two pedestrians were killed in two different accidents on the night from Sunday to Monday, reports France Blue.
On the A23, in the direction Lille-Valenciennes, a man was struck by a car at around 4:20 am. The circumstances of the accident and the reasons why the victim was there remain unclear. Ten firefighters intervened.

A little earlier, on the A16 motorway, in the Dunkirk-Paris direction, a pedestrian was killed by a heavy vehicle at around 1:30 am. According to The voice of the North, the man was driving at the Herquelingue tollgate in Isques. He died instantly and the driver, a Lithuanian, was taken into care in shock.
Two investigations are underway to clarify the circumstances of these two accidents.
