Of course, joining a club means firstly choosing a discipline, an activity that meets many criteria; from the schools that most clubs near the federal pyramid offer in initiation and apprenticeship up to the first teams in the competition calendar and up to the national and international elite, regulations, rules, codes, and then individual behaviors.
Behaviors which concern or are of interest to the authorities as the brand image of a discipline matters to the general public; praised reputation (the supporters are the primary vectors) and sometimes criticized not only in terms of results on the field. Local departmental committees have an important role in this brand image; through of course the exercise of thematic commissions including those of ethics, competition calendars, and initiatives including information on doping and addictions which the sporting world can be affected at all levels, ages and categories.
This is how a delegation from the Hautes-Pyrénées Departmental Rugby Committee, welcomed by the team of USVic XV leaders around President Frédéric Dayman at the “Antoine-Ménoni” sports complex, hosted a meeting at the club. house in which licensed players, coaches, supporters and parents participated.
Hélène Figard-Fabre and Michel Hondagné, project managers of the Departmental Sports Office, first presented a power-point with the organizations and associations concerned, also a history of doping which the episode of a Tour de France revealed to the general public the dimensions of the problem; leading to the creation in 1998 of the French Anti-Doping Agency. The facilitators will also give the contact details of the dedicated site (www.afld.fr/).
*Doping and addictions. In an educational way, information, recommendations and “tools” to avoid the transition to addiction and insidious doping. Indicate, recall and underline the anti-doping rules relating to the rest of a world code; from banal self-medication to be avoided (many common products in the family pharmacy can have components which will leave positive marks) by favoring contact-consultation with a doctor, up to answering the question on official controls during of competitions. The opportunity for Michel Hondagné to inform that “unannounced checks can take place at all levels” being not reserved only for elite competitions.
Being licensed in a club means maintaining a relationship of trust, with coaches who are also educators; It’s not just about physical training!
