The member of the 1re constituency of Haute-Savoie, Véronique Riotton, was traveling to New York City on March 6 and 7. She represented France on the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). This annual international meeting is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The theme for this edition was “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age”. Three lines of work emerged for the member parliaments of the United Nations.
Ariane Moret, the MP’s parliamentary assistant, explains: “Parliaments are called upon to ensure that technological innovation is led more by women; they must also fight against violence against women via new technologies (revenge pornography, harassment, etc.); and parliamentarians are tasked with enhancing their understanding and employment potential of women in work in these areas. »
