Haute-Savoie Prefecture Issues Red Alert for Arve Sector, Evacuations Underway

The Haute-Savoie prefecture indicates in a press release that the Arve sector remains “particularly impacted”. The department still remains on red flood alert.

The middle Arve section is in a recession phase, however the Arve Aval sector (Etrembières, Gaillard, Annemasse, Vétraz-Monthoux,
Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame, Reignier-Esery, Scientrier), is subject to increased vigilance, overflows have involved sheltering and/or evacuations.

The prefect reiterates his call to avoid any travel that is not essential, to favor teleworking as much as possible and to respect the diversions put in place on the main roads. The area of ​​the Quai de l’Arve in Annemasse should be avoided in particular.

Some 130 interventions by the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 74) have been carried out since the start of the crisis, for more than 110 people supported.
