The Hémobunis project is the project of the Casado family from Arâches-la-Frasse who will set off on the road to America to support research on hemophilia. For many years, Laure and Philippe Casado have been involved in the fight against this hereditary hemorrhagic disease which results in the impossibility for the blood to clot. In case of bleeding, the flow cannot stop, especially at the level of the joints. Hemophilia cannot be cured, it is controlled through treatments that are the subject of research aimed at their effectiveness and in order to treat the disease by gene therapy.
In September, the Hemobunis project will consist of linking New York to Los Angeles by motorcycle, the emblematic Peugeot 103, nearly 4,500 km in one month.
The Casado couple will be accompanied by a couple of friends also loyal to the Peugeot 103 and an assistance vehicle.
The itinerary has been defined precisely, accommodation will be chosen according to the funds available. The main objective of the project is to bring together and federate around the cause of rare bleeding diseases and to collect funds in order to donate them to research in hemophilia. The French association of hemophiliacs (https://afh.asso.fr) is the national partner of the operation and donations are collected by the hemophilia research endowment fund (FRH). The online kitty on helloasso (Hémobunis, on the road to America to support research) allows everyone to support the cause.

In 2018, Laure and Philippe Casado, with the “À 100 pour sang” march, had already contributed to raising funds. From 15e district of Paris, headquarters of the AFH, at Les Carroz station, i.e. 600 km in 22 days, they thus collected 25,000 euros to support the cause.
The whole family is truly committed to the project. Thus, a painting exhibition has been offered to the public at the Carroz cultural center since July 4. All the works presented and intended for sale are the fruit of the artistic talents of the grandma of the family. In her own way, she contributes to the success of the challenge.
